Stamp Information : Shri Dinanath Mangeshkar was born at Mangeshi, a small village in Goa in 1901. he started taking lessons in Music from Shri Bab Malshekar at the tender age of five. He joined the 'Kirloskar Natak Mandali'when he was barely 11 years old. He won the hearts of the theatre-loving people with his good looks and his flawless and melodies voice so much so that the then giant of the Marathi stage the great Bal Gandharva publicly declared that he would welcome the entry of Dinanath in his organisation "by thowing a carpet of rupee coins under his feet." During the period 1935 he produced three films in Marathi. Shri Dinanath mangeshkar was well versed not only in Indan classical music but also in Sanskrit and Astrology. He become famous for his exceptionally sonorous voice.
